In Flake News

A holiday get together is in the works. This will be in Nashville on Dec 30th, 5:00 p.m. at The Hard Rock Cafe. From there, who knows where the rest of the adventure will take us. Last year a get together took place about this same time. In attendance were Hardrock69, DEB, Ardra and Gladrial. This year looks to be bigger and better as there are more Flakers in the Nashville area now.
The photos from Christmas Fest 1999 are also up for viewing.

Chat Changes!!

Many of you enjoy the Metalflakes chatroom and our "Sister" room JohnCam. There are changes happening on the JohnCam side. The room is changing names. The new name for the room will be "Webcams". This change will take effect on Dec. 31st. at midnight. If you connect through our Metalflakes chatpage, there will be no difference to you except you might find some people hanging out in the room WEBCAMS instead of JOHNCAM. JohnCam will no longer exist. The "Sister" room is run by SickPuppy (AKA John) who feels in our changing and growing times, the name WEBCAMS better describes the room setup. We encourage all Metalflakes members to enjoy this highly interactive Webcam/Chat setup. Remember you don't need a webcam to join the chat or see the cams. Enjoy.....

Also, the JohnCam chatroom has started their own newsletter. This should inform you of scheduled Metal chats and new cams coming on line and such. To sign up, send an E-Mail to sickpuppy2001@hotmail.com and request to be added to the newsletter list.

Sweeping up the Dust!

Metal Flakes is almost finished with renovations. Hopefully we didn't miss anything and all the pages and links are working properly again. The growth pain was well worth it. Things are much more easy to handle now. As we grow and improve these changes are going to be the key in keeping up. So if you have any contributions to add of your own please send them in. We can add them easily now.

In Metal News

Metal Flakes had the pleasure of interviewing Heavy Metal's leading lady, Doro Pesch, this month, as well as taking in her sound check, set and awesome live performances by Yngwie Malmsteen and Dio as well.

Doro is just an amazing person all the way around. The sound check was more like a mini show. She puts as much into it as she does her live show. This lady certainly has the energy! Her show, though opening for two other acts, was a full house, rare for openers. She had the entire place rocking, on their feet, and more than warmed up for Yngwie when he took the stage. She did songs from her era in Warlock as well as after, from the new release, including a cover of Billy Idol's "White Wedding". This lady doesn't sit still on stage for one second. She is in constant motion. My only complaint was the length of her set. It's much too short, so there was no room for any of her ballads.

Afterwards, she milled about the crowd, meeting fans and taking in Dio's show herself, as she is big time metal fan. See what she had to tell us about herself in our interview with her. Expect to see a lot more of Doro. She is here to stay!

Yngwie took the stage and blew everyone away. With new vocalist, Jorn Lande, at the mic, they delivered quite the solo packed set. Many classics as well as his new works were included, note perfect of course. The fans loved it and were begging for more when he left the stage. If you are missing any of his releases, we have been told there are going to be nine re-issues of his former works, so be watching your local record stores.

Dio then took the stage and wiped out what was left of everyone. An amazingly long set which included the ENTIRE "Magica" album as well as the classics. His voice is as powerful and reaching as it was 20 years ago. He kept everyone captivated and watching his every move. He really knows how to turn it on and keep the intensity high. Simply an incredible set. How many artists play all your favorites and the entire release they are touring for?

If you have missed this tour, kick yourself, you deserve to be kicked! If not, you better find a way to get there. It's one of the best tours going.

The Best of the Best Join Forces

This past week in London, at a sold out Halford. headlining gig, for the song "The One You Love To Hate", Halford was joined by not only Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson, but also by Queensryche's Geoff Tate.

Previously many wondered if Rob and Bruce would ever take the opportunity of touring together to do this song as it was released, with both at the mic. Finally to have this happen and to also include Geoff Tate in the live performance is a metal heads dream come true.

JJoker's Corner

The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a nativity scene in Washington, D.C. this Christmas. This isn't for any religious reason.

They simply have not been able to find three wise men and a virgin in the Nation's capitol. There was no problem however finding enough asses to fill the stable.

One particular Christmas a long time ago, Santa was getting ready for his annual trip......

But there were problems everywhere. Four of his elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones, so Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.

Then, Mrs. Claus told him her mother was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more. Then when he went to harness the Reindeer, he found three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More stress. Then when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys. Frustrated, Santa went back into the house for a cup of coffee and a shot of whisky. When he went to the cupboard he discovered the elves had hidden the liquor and there was nothing to drink.

In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the coffee pot and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw it was made from. Just then, the doorbell rang and Santa cursed his way to the door.

He opened the door and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas Tree. The angel said, very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas Santa. Isn't it just a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Isn't it just a lovely tree? Where would you like me to stick it?"

Thus began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas Tree.
