In Flake News
Fall Flake Fest 2000 was a complete success! In attendance were DEB, Exciter, marc, Neon Black, and Warlord. The first night, October 22nd, consisted of DEB and Exciter attending the Halford show at the 9:30 club in D.C. We met up with some other people from the boards there as well as some from Halford's boards. We also met up, by accident, with Rob on the street out front as he arrived by cab. Before the show began, many of us joined in the meet and greet, and spent some time talking with Rob and having some items signed. We also took some pictures that can be viewed in the Flake Fests section.
DEB, Rob Halford & Exciter Halford delivered a blistering set! The band are tight and this show kicks ass! The set list included songs from Rob's works with Judas Priest, Fight and the current release by Halford titled Resurrection. While this tour is now over seas, we were told that there is a possibility of more U.S. headlining dates in February 2001.
On October 24th some of us went up to Philly to catch the show again at the Trocadero. While there, we met up again with many people from the Halford boards. Between these two shows there were 9 rolls of film shot of the show, backstage silliness and friends. Halford photos are now up on the site in the Concert Photos section. Check em out!!
On October 26th marc and Neon Black arrived by plane and Warlord by railway. We drove to Virginia to JAXX and started that evening by interviewing Biff Byford of Saxon. Neon Black for the most part handled the interview, however all of us were taken on the bus for it and we all took part. This interview is available on the site in the interviews section. Biff is pretty amazing. Most rockers from the older generation tame out and take up hobbies out side music over time. Biff is a true die hard Metalhead!!!
I will have to say that Saxon shocked everyone including myself. marc and I were already fans, Exciter, Neon Black and Warlord became fans that night, I hadn't seen Saxon since the early 80's when they were opening for Iron Maiden. I had no idea they would be better than ever! Biff's voice is as excellent as it ever was. The band are on target and delivered power packed song after power packed song. This show is quite long and after quite the encore, metalheads were still begging for more. One of the things I enjoyed the most about this show was it's casual off the cuff style. There was a set list taped to the monitors, however with maniacs in the crowd yelling for this song and that song, the set list was canned and they just played to satisfy. Biff's banter with the crowd was as spontaneous as the set list became. Nice to see a show like that. Most are so pre-planned like a routine these days. The set list was as follows, however don't expect to get the same when they come to your town. Reports of them even covering Judas Priest's Another Thing Coming have made it on to the net.
Metalhead
Motorcycle Man
Dogs of War
Strong Arm of the Law
Song of Evel
Power & the Glory
The Preacher
Traveler
20,000 Feet
Demin & Leather
Conquistador
Crusader
Princess of the Night

There were lots of nice photos taken that night and those are up in the Saxon photos section. If you don't get out to see this show, you will have missed one of the best metal tours going this year. For more information and tour dates check the official Saxon web site.
U.D.O. are the support act for the Saxon tour, out promoting their latest "Holy". This gave us a double dose of metal that night. I must say that the "little general" hasn't changed much either. We were anxious to see how the sound would be compared to the Accept shows we have seen in the past. Strangely, though Stefan Kauffman is the only former member of Accept still working with Udo, and on guitar instead of drums at that, they nail the Accept songs perfectly. I have to give Igor props, he's nailed that sound and playing style to a tee and added his own special flavor as well. The musical and lyrical stylings of U.D.O. are much the same as that of Accept, so if you used to be a fan, check them out. You can get more information at the official U.D.O.web site You may also view new photos from the the show in the U.D.O. photos section.
After the show and other festivities, we headed back to Exciter's house for a metal slumber party. I wish I had gotten just one picture of all of us in our heavy metal pajamas. marc had on a concert shirt and long plaid jammie pants, Neon Black also had on a concert shirt and long plaid jammie pants, Warlord had on U.D.O. knee length shorts and a tee from our friend Jawbreaker's bar in N.Y and I was wearing a concert shirt and light sweat pants.. All these sleeping outfits were quite the cute sight! We crashed, ears ringing, and slept like middle-aged-overweight-drunk-redneck men.
The next day we went for lunch at one of Exciter's favorite places, The Green Turtle, This was our last time together before we all (except Warlord) left for our flights out. There are many pictures of our nonsense and good times in the Flake Fests section.

Site Additions
We held our second Metal Survey in October. This one was regarding Rob Halford and Judas Priest. You can view the results of it here in the new Survey Section. We need suggestions for future surveys, if you got ideas we want them.
One of the coolest new sections on Metal Flakes is the addition of our Rock Art section. The first contribution to this new section was made by Rockangel. Her drawings are fabulous and you can easily tell who is in each drawing.Check out her work and then visit her site.
The Interviews section is now up. It will take a while to get all interviews up in there, however the current work is there and new interviews will go up on schedule.
There have been additions made to most all sections this month. Tattoos, resident pictures. links, concert photos and the list goes on. Those of you that have never really taken time to check out the rest of the site should. Those that have will see lots of new items of interest.
Metal Flakes is getting a face lift. We are growing so fast these days some changes had to made to make maintenance easier. You may notice over the next few weeks, things shifting, links not working, pages down and any number of other malfunctions as we improve. Hopefully this will not take too long to finish. Please make sure to give Ouroboros a thank you in all his efforts to assist and master different areas of this site. He has been priceless in these renovations.
These growing pains are also going to halt some additions that have been sent it. While reorganizing the site, we can not add items to some areas until their improvements or editing is finished. If you have sent something in, be patient, we will get to it.
Metal Flakes is YOUR site so feel free to send in any suggestions or ideas. Please also send in your pictures, art, tattoo photos, silly stuff, and any links you think should be added.

A boy awoke and wanted breakfast so he told his mother. She said, 'Not until you feed the animals.
The boy went outside and said to the chicken, 'I don't feel like feeding you today.' So he kicked the chicken. He did the same with the cow and the pig. The boy then went back into the house and told his mother he was hungry.
His mother said, 'I saw you kick the chicken so you're not getting any eggs, I saw you kick the cow so you're not getting any milk and I saw kick the pig so you're not getting any bacon.'
Just then the boy's father walked down the steps and tripped over and kicked the cat and the boy said, 'Mom should I tell him?
A man with a pegleg, hook hand and an eyepatch went to apply to be a pirate. When it came around for him to be interviewed, he was asked the following questions:
Interviewer: How did you get that pegleg?
Pirate: Arrr. I got me leg shot off during the first world war.
Interviewer: How did you get that hook?
Pirate: I got me hand cut off by a big knife.
Interviewer: What about your eyepatch?
Pirate: It was a rainy afternoon and I looked up into the sky and a bird crapped in me eye.
Interviewer: And that put your eye out?
Pirate: No, it was the day after I got me hook.
