Rest In Peace "songbird"

Sadly, we lost one of our ranks last month. Many of you knew "songbird" from the Metal Flakes and Johncam chat rooms. She had been battling and once beaten breast cancer, but lost that battle in the end. "songbird" will always be remembered for her chat humor and all around good nature. We will mourn her loss. Please take a moment and say a prayer or kind words for her family and friends as they grieve her loss.

Site Additions

We are holding our second Metal Poll in October. This one is regarding Rob Halford and Judas Priest. Participate now or look for the link to it from the message boards. There will be another Metal Poll in November. We need some ideas for the next one. Please send your thoughts to the email link at the bottom of this page.

There are some new photos up in the Flake Fotos section. Some older ones of Rob Zombie from Ozzfest 1999 and new photos of Zakk Wylde. Also see some King Diamond shots recently taken by Neon Black. If you have any concert photos please send them in, we would love to add them.

Addition's to the Tattooed Flakes section are also now up. If you got ink, we want to see it. Send it in and we will put it up, and we promise not to laugh.

In Metal News

We cannot possibly report all the metal news going on nor assure that it is true, that's what the boards are for and of course the rest of the net.

Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society Sweeps Across The South

While the tour was cut short due to lack of support, Flakers made it out to shows all around and reported excellent experiences without exception. The show I caught was rip-roaring excellent and incredibly cheap. $10 admission for this with two support bands, Crowbar, and Sixty Watt Shaman is a gift to the fans these days. It was worth the $10 admission just to view Zakk's interesting guitar collection up-close, in person. My photos from this show are now up in the Flake Fotoz Section

Though Zakk has proven himself strong as a solo artist, the metal music industry just isn't being kind these days. It's been reported that Zakk may well be returning to work with Ozzy Osbourne on his next release. No word yet on this being definate, or if after it's release, if Zakk will accompany Ozzy on tour in support of the release. We wish Zakk the best in his future plans regardless of what they may be. Visit Zakk's Official Web Site for more information on his career and sample sounds of the latest release, "Stronger Than Death". You may also get information from Zakk's record label's official web site, Spitfire Records You will find many other favorites listed on their roster as well, and learn of their activities.

Slaves On Dope Email Interview

We announced last month that we were doing an email interview with Slaves On Dope. So far, we have only received 5 questions. Please do visit the Slaves On Dope web site and get more information and decide what YOU want to ask. Also check out their label's official site at: www.divinerecordings.com.

JJoker's Corner

Prosecutor: Did you kill the victim?

Defendant: No, I did not.

Prosecutor: Do you know what the penalties are for perjury?

Defendant: Yes, I do. And they're a lot better than the penalty for murder.

An old man was on his death bed. He wanted badly to take all his money with him. He called his priest, his doctor and his lawyer to his bedside. "Here's $30,000 cash to be held by each of you. I trust you to put this in my coffin when I die so I can take all my money with me."

At the funeral, each man put an envelope in the coffin. Riding away in a limousine, the priest suddenly broke into tears and confessed that he had only put $20,000 into the envelope because he needed $10,000 for a new baptistery.

"Well, since we're confiding in each other," said the doctor, "I only put $10,000 in the envelope because we needed a new machine at the hospital which cost $20,000."

The lawyer was aghast. "I'm ashamed of both of you," he exclaimed. "I want it known that when I put my envelope in that coffin, it held my personal check for the full $30,000."
